Kawasaki Versys 650 LT This wasn’t the only Kawasaki unveiled at EICMA; the updated H2 SX with adaptive cruise control is a much flashier machine, but for many readers, it’s more than they can afford. However, almost anyone should be able to find enough change in the couch cushions for the Kawasaki Versys 650 LT (even though the price has gone up, just a bit). It is still a basic bike powered by a basic paralleltwin engine, but with a new TFT screen, adjustable windscreen, LED headlight and traction control system, this bike receives a wide range of incremental improvements without seeing a complete re-think. In other words, Kawasaki made it better without an expensive re-design that would have raised MSRP. Good for them! We don’t all have deep pockets, and frankly, the industry didn’t seem too interested in releasing budget-friendly bikes at EICMA this year. Let’s see if the bike makes it to our shores. 2022 Kawasaki KLX 230 SE: Man we need entry level bikes… Let’s hope our weird homologation laws don’t block this one… Kawasaki has brought back the KLX 230 for 2022 and along with it comes the new KLX 230 Special Edition (SE). This entry-level dual sport is purpose built for various uses riding on the streets or off-road trails. The SE model comes equipped with plenty of features that make it off-road ready for any new buyer. New tapered handlebars as well as handguards, frame covers, and a skid plate keep the bike protected. Black rims and two special-edition graphics (Firecracker Red and Oriental Blue) give the bike a unique look. The KLX SE continues to come with a 233cc air-cooled engine, a six-speed transmission, and weighs in at 130KG’s. The KLX 230 is a staple in the small-bore dual-sport world. With more enthusiasts learning to ride, it’s great to see Kawasaki offering a ready-to-ride package that’s geared more toward an entry-level market.
