L I N H A I M 1 5 0 Some other pertinent info is as follows: Engine Type Displacement (cc) Transmission Fuel System Starter System Engine Cooling Lubrication System Fuel Type and Capacity Drive Drive System 4-Stroke, Single Cylinder 147 cc Automatic H/L/N/R Carburettor Electric Choke Liquid-Cooled Wet Sump Petrol – 10 litres 2WD CVT It’s not very fast at all though, which actually makes it perfect for someone who is inexperienced, and the thumb throttle also helps for this as it eliminates the chance of whiskey throttling. You can ride at a safe speed while still pinning it and still have tons of fun. It had rained a lot in the morning so we didn’t want to go too fast anyway to avoid getting completely covered in mud. Speaking of mud, the massive fenders merging with the foot platforms did an excellent job of keeping me mud-free. The big fat wheels on the little Linhai helped us get through all the mud and bumps and crevices that we encountered on our little tour around the GZ Adventures trails, but the slightly stiffer suspension made sure you still noticed every bump. Even though you won’t be going all that fast on the Linhai, you still have plenty of braking power if you do need to suddenly grind to a halt should the need arise. Furthermore, the Linhai 150 is in fact a utility quad, meaning it has space and equipment for storage. It has quite a big storage rack on both the front and rear of the bike, plenty strong enough to hold my entire body weight whilst I stand on top to take photos (granted I am lighter than most people). It also has a little bullbar on the front to protect itself when you start ramming it into rocks or other quads. All in all a very fun little quad, perfect for someone who is looking to get a quad for the occasional adventure ride. Capable of handling most terrain within reason and going fast enough to make the trip fun. After riding through all of the trails that GZ Adventures had to offer we weren’t tired at all and still quite comfortable to go on riding for as long we’d like. So, a quick summary of the Linhai M150: R38950.00 It has a 147 cc Engine with 2×4 Wheel Drive. The Fuel Tank holds 10 litres and it seems very frugal on it fuel usage. It has a ground Clearance of 205 mm making it fairly versatile over most terrain. The automatic CVT box with H/L/N/R make it very easy to ride. And at 1816 mm (L) x 950 mm (W) x 1040 mm (H) it is quite compact, easily loaded onto a small bakkie or parked in a small space in the shed or garage. They have 10 venues around the ‘old Transvaal’ and are in the process of opening up a venue in Crete, Greece. Head office is across the road from Lanseria airport, with other venues at White River, Hazeyview, Mankele (near Sudwala Caves), Dikholo other side Brits, Haartebeestepoorts LaMontagne and near the Upside down house and even at 26° Muldersdrift. They offer a wide range of activities, but you do need to check what is available at each venue as some venues are not equipped to offer the full range. Here are a few of the activities they do: • Quad biking • Paint ball • Go Karts • Horse riding • Bungee catapult • River tubing • Survivor bush games • Abseiling • Archery • Fear Factor • Bush chef challenges • Game drives The operation is very slick and professional with all the guides being fully and professionally qualified and certified as level 3 first aiders, bush guides, river guides and ATV riding instructors which are refreshed every couple of years as per legislative requirements. A basic ‘Greasy Spoon’ and refreshments are available at all the venues. We were at the Lanseria venue for a couple of hours testing the Linhai M150 and had so much fun that we really took our time with the test.
