NEWS brought to you by On the left Conrad, on the right Dave Offroad Cycles on the move Conrad is going large for 2016 with the shop moving to amazing new premises just around the corner from where they have been for the last 10 years odd. These guys do everything from parts and accessories to adventure and dirtbike setup. Huge tyre bay and who knows what else is still in the making... We popped in while they were still busy, but knowing the team, its going to be really lekker. 22 Blesbok street Koedoespoort. (012)333-6443. Pretoria. Ten Thousand kilometres on Pirelli Scorpion Rally’s I’m a big-bore adventure rider, and prefer a knobby tyre. When my Conti Trail Attack tyres finally wore out, Midlands bike tyres offered me the more aggressive Scorpion Rally tyres to get me back to some rougher adventure riding. The Scorpion Rally’s are sure-footed on the tar with good directional stability, and when you get up to highway speed, they don’t howl like some knobby tyres. My daily commute covers most varieties of terrain, starting with a track from home that is loose and in the rainy season rather muddy, then its gravel with some sandy patches to the highway. Riding on tar or gravel I found the tyre to perform exceptionally in braking performance, directional stability and cornering confidence. The tyre pressure I rode with on all surfaces was 2.4 in the front and 2.7 bar at the rear. The heat rise and pressure increase in the tyres wasn’t noticeable on tar or gravel. I rarely cover more than 300km in one continuous stretch of riding. If you, like me ride a big-bore machine and want a knobby tyre that will carry you and a fair-size load long distances at speed across the tar to where the rougher adventure routes really starts, these Scorpion Rally tyres are a great option. I’m pleased with their puncture free performance, over the last 10 thousand clicks and am hoping for 5 thousand more, definitely an option for a rougher long distance adventure. Disclaimer. I’m not paid by Pirrelli or Midlands Bike Tyres. I bought these tyres, and write this review on a basis of sharing my experience. Ben Wiid - Adventure Riders SA - December 6, 2015 Arai helmets distributed by www.bike-wise.co.za The MX-V evolved from the much loved VX-3 model. Years of experience can be found in this ultimate off road helmet. The perfect choice for MX, Enduro and Off-road use. Just as found in every Arai helmet, the basic and simple organic shell shape is based on the R75 Shape concept. The absence of exaggerated edges or protrusions on the shell is not a lack of creativity, but a commitment to maintaining the integrity of the shell with real world impact performance. 1603 DT news.indd 10 2016/02/21 3:19 PM Offroa 1602
